It seems that James Harden did not deter the Sixers' primary strategy. Paul George is set to join the team. The nine-time All-Star is departing from the Clippers and is expected to ink a four-year, $212 million maximum contract with Philadelphia. The initial report was made by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Woj also mentioned that the last year of the deal includes a player option.

Daryl Morey successfully secured the signing of the four-time All-Defensive Team pick, George, into the Sixers' cap space amidst rumors of the player potentially staying with L.A. Reports suggested that the offer from the Sixers was too good for George to turn down, despite the considerations of leaving his hometown of Palmdale on the West Coast. It was noted that L.A. was not willing to extend George's contract to a fourth year.

The Sixers have secured George's signature, acquiring the player widely considered to be the team's top choice with regards to their cap space strategy. George, a six-time All-NBA pick, brings valuable attributes such as size, scoring, playmaking, and defensive skills to the wing position. His impressive three-point shooting ability (41.3% on 7.9 attempts per game last season) and knack for providing additional scoring make him a perfect partner for Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

George's age will be a significant factor to consider, as he will be 37 years old in the final year of his contract with the Sixers. In addition, there are concerns about his durability, as he played the most games last season since his time with the Thunder in 2018-19. Over the past four years, George has only played in less than 60% of the total games. With Embiid on the team, these factors could have a significant impact. Looking ahead, the Sixers still have cap space and draft assets to work with, allowing them to continue building a strong roster around their core stars.
