Jalen Hurts finds Darius Cooper late as Eagles rally past Titans 24-20.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jalen Hurts delivered when Philadelphia needed him most, connecting with Darius Cooper on a 3-yard touchdown with nine seconds remaining to give the Eagles a 24-20 comeback victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The win moved Philadelphia to 2-0, while Tennessee fell to 0-2. The Eagles controlled much of the opening half, putting together three consecutive drives of at least 11 plays to begin the game. Philadelphia held the ball for nearly 22 minutes in the first half and went into halftime with a 14-10 advantage.

Tennessee stayed within reach by forcing turnovers. The Titans recorded three sacks and intercepted Hurts twice, with Marcus Harris' interception setting up Joey Slye's 33-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. That kick gave Tennessee a 20-17 lead with 1:56 remaining.

Hurts then guided Philadelphia on a 65-yard game-winning drive. He completed the final scoring play to Cooper, who recorded the first touchdown of his career. Hurts finished with 264 passing yards and two touchdown passes. DeVonta Smith caught 10 passes for 117 yards, while Tank Bigsby added a rushing touchdown. Jake Elliott also connected on a 58-yard field goal. Cam Ward gave Tennessee one final opportunity after Philadelphia's touchdown, moving the Titans to midfield. Under pressure, Ward's final pass fell incomplete as time expired. Ward finished with 183 passing yards and scored twice on 1-yard rushing touchdowns. The game was played in extreme heat, with the air temperature reaching 98 degrees in the fourth quarter and the heat index reaching 106 degrees. The artificial turf was measured at 157 degrees Fahrenheit. Both teams dealt with the conditions throughout the afternoon.

Philadelphia also had to manage an injury to Saquon Barkley, who suffered a stinger in his left arm on the opening play. Barkley returned to begin the third quarter but finished with only four carries for 9 yards. The Titans took advantage of one early Philadelphia mistake when an interception by Marcus Harris led to Ward's first rushing touchdown. Tennessee also pulled within four points when Slye made a 37-yard field goal as the second quarter ended. The loss marked Tennessee's second straight defeat to open the season under first-year coach Robert Saleh. “They executed better in critical moments,” Saleh said. For Philadelphia, the victory continued a strong September stretch. The Eagles improved to 15-4 in September since 2021 and remained tied with Buffalo for the most wins in the NFL during the opening month over that span. The Eagles are now 2-0 for the fourth time under coach Nick Sirianni. Philadelphia also extended its winning streak in road openers to six under Sirianni. Hurts credited the team's execution and focus for the late comeback. Philadelphia will visit the Chicago Bears on Monday, Sept. 28. Tennessee will travel to face the New York Giants next Sunday.
