MEMPHIS -- Jaren Jackson Jr delivered a statement performance Monday night as the Memphis Grizzlies responded to recent struggles with a 137 to 128 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, snapping a six game losing streak in the latest NBA results update with clear implications for both teams’ momentum.

Jackson scored 30 points and controlled the interior on both ends while Ty Jerome added 19 as Memphis built a 20 point second half lead and withstood a late Minnesota push. The victory came two nights after the Timberwolves handled the Grizzlies in the first meeting of the back to back set, giving Memphis a needed course correction and restoring balance after a difficult stretch.

Memphis leaned heavily on ball movement and perimeter efficiency to establish control early. After struggling from long range in Saturday’s loss, the Grizzlies flipped the script by hitting 8 of their first 15 three point attempts and opening a 14 point advantage before halftime. Memphis carried a 66 to 58 lead into the break, a swing driven by improved shot selection and pace control.

The Grizzlies extended the margin in the third quarter behind Jackson’s scoring versatility and defensive activity. Memphis led 98 to 86 entering the fourth and quickly pushed the advantage to 109 to 89 by converting its first four field goal attempts of the final period, including three three pointers that halted Minnesota’s momentum. That cushion proved critical as the Timberwolves attempted to rally behind their stars.

Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 39 points and 7 rebounds, continuing a stretch of high level offensive production. Jaden McDaniels added 29 points and Donte DiVincenzo finished with 21, including 13 in the fourth quarter as Minnesota pressed late. Despite the surge, the Timberwolves were unable to close the gap beyond 9 points, with Memphis consistently answering scoring runs through Jackson and timely perimeter shooting.

Jaylen Wells contributed 18 points for Memphis, while Cam Spencer and Vince Williams Jr each added 16, reflecting a balanced scoring effort that complemented Jackson’s lead role. The Grizzlies maintained composure down the stretch, limiting turnovers and keeping Minnesota out of transition where the Timberwolves are most dangerous.

The result halted Minnesota’s four game winning streak and underscored the volatility of a Western Conference race where short swings can significantly impact positioning. For Memphis, the win provided a reset point and reinforced the value of spacing and defensive discipline when Jackson anchors the lineup.

What this means moving forward is clear for both sides. Memphis will look to build on the performance as it begins a five game road trip Wednesday in Sacramento, a stretch that will test its consistency and depth.

Minnesota heads to Toronto on Wednesday seeking a quick response and improved defensive execution after allowing 137 points.
