Jazz Respond to Historic Loss with 123–112 Victory over Cavaliers.

CLEVELAND — Two nights after suffering one of the most lopsided defeats in franchise history, the Utah Jazz showed resilience Monday night, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 123–112 to open a five-game road trip on a positive note. Keyonte George led the way for Utah with 32 points, including 16 in the third quarter, as the Jazz erased a 10-point deficit and regained momentum. George was flawless from the free-throw line, converting all 12 attempts, and added nine assists. Lauri Markkanen followed with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Jusuf Nurkić returned from a toe injury to post 11 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

The victory marked just Utah’s second win in its last eight games and came on the heels of a 150–95 loss to the Charlotte Hornets, a 55-point defeat that stood as the franchise’s worst since relocating in 1979. Cleveland was paced by Darius Garland’s 23 points, while Donovan Mitchell contributed 21. The Cavaliers, who have now lost two of their last three games, briefly controlled the contest after a strong second-quarter surge. After falling behind by as many as 17 points in the opening quarter, Cleveland closed the first half on a 26–8 run to take a 62–54 lead into halftime, with Garland scoring nine points during the stretch. The Cavaliers extended the advantage to 10 early in the third quarter before Utah responded with a decisive 21–8 run to swing the momentum back in its favor.

The Jazz held a narrow 90–89 edge early in the fourth quarter before pulling away with a 16–6 run over three minutes. Svi Mykhailiuk sparked the burst by knocking down two consecutive 3-pointers. Both teams were efficient at the free-throw line, with Cleveland going a perfect 13-for-13 and Utah converting 25 of 28 attempts.

Utah will continue its road trip Wednesday in Chicago, while Cleveland heads to Philadelphia the same night.
