Joseph Noteboom, former offensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams, is heading to Baltimore. On Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Noteboom agreed to a new contract with the Ravens after becoming an unrestricted free agent. The Rams had previously signed Noteboom to a three-year, $40 million deal that expired in 2025, as noted by Spotrac. Drafted by the Rams in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of TCU, Noteboom began his career as a backup. He played in all 16 games during his rookie season but did not start. In 2019, he earned a starting role but suffered a significant setback when he tore his MCL and ACL just six games into the season. His misfortune continued in 2020 with groin and calf injuries that limited him to 10 games, nine of which he started. By 2021, Noteboom began to regain form, participating in 15 games and making two starts. His 2022 season, however, was cut short due to a ruptured Achilles tendon after just six games. In 2023, he managed to start eight of 14 games but faced more health issues in 2024. After starting the Rams’ season opener against the Detroit Lions, he sustained an ankle injury and missed the majority of the season, returning only for Weeks 16 and 17. Noteboom’s departure comes amid major changes in Los Angeles. The Rams made headlines this offseason by signing star wide receiver Davante Adams while releasing veteran receiver Cooper Kupp.
These moves signal a shift in priorities for head coach Sean McVay, who has led the Rams to an 80-52 record since taking over in 2017. With big contracts going to offensive weapons, Los Angeles had little financial flexibility to retain Noteboom, whose injury history made re-signing him a gamble. Although the financial terms of Noteboom’s new deal with Baltimore have not yet been released, the move represents a chance for the veteran lineman to revitalize his career. The Ravens, known for their strong development culture and physical style of play, could provide the stability and support Noteboom needs to stay on the field. If he can remain healthy, the signing could turn out to be a savvy addition to Baltimore’s offensive line depth.
