ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Josh Allen accounted for five touchdowns Thursday night, leading the Buffalo Bills to a 41-31 victory over the Detroit Lions in the opening game at their new stadium. Allen completed 26 of 38 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He also added a rushing touchdown as Buffalo's offense produced 41 points. The Bills took control early, carrying a 27-17 lead into halftime. Buffalo continued to find success offensively after the break and kept Detroit from closing the gap enough to threaten the lead. James Cook added 105 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, giving Buffalo another productive option alongside Allen. Detroit also moved the ball effectively through the air. Jared Goff finished 26 of 38 for 327 yards and four touchdowns, while Amon-Ra St. Brown recorded nine catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, but Buffalo's early advantage proved enough to secure the 10-point victory.
The Bills moved to 2-0 with the win, while the Lions fell to 1-1.
