Durant sustained a calf injury prior to the commencement of the 2024 Olympics training camp, resulting in his absence from Team USA's exhibition game against Canada in Las Vegas on Wednesday due to a strained left calf. Throughout the training camp for the 2024 Olympics, which began on Saturday, Durant has been excluded from participating in scrimmages and full-contact drills, including Tuesday's walkthrough. Despite this, USA Basketball asserts that the injury is minor. Team USA coach Steve Kerr informed the press on Sunday that Durant's absence is a precautionary measure.

Durant informed the press on Tuesday of his intention to participate in the upcoming game in Abu Dhabi next week, which is the team's next destination as they gear up for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He mentioned that he sustained a calf injury approximately 10 days prior to the commencement of the training camp. Coach Kerr mentioned to reporters on Tuesday that Durant is currently engaged in various activities on the sidelines, such as strengthening exercises and receiving treatment. Although he has not rejoined the team yet, Durant expressed that he is feeling quite well. The team will continue to monitor his progress on a daily basis, and it won't be long before he is back on the court with us. Updates will be provided as they become available.

The match against Canada will take place at 10:30 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday. Following that, Team USA has scheduled tune-up games against Australia on July 15 and Serbia on July 17 in Abu Dhabi. Subsequently, the team will journey to London for exhibition games against South Sudan on July 20 and Germany on July 22. The Americans are set to face Croatia in their initial group play game at the Olympics on July 28.
