Leon Edwards has outlined his plans for his inaugural fight in 2025. During a brief interview at the Matchroom Boxing event held at BP Pulse Arena in Birmingham, England, Edwards disclosed that he is scheduled to headline UFC London on March 22.
“I’m back in March,” Edwards stated to DAZN. “March in London, at the O2. I’m headlining the O2, so I’m looking forward to it, to reclaim my belt and bring it back to Birmingham.”
It remains uncertain whether these plans are finalized or if the former UFC welterweight champion is merely expressing his desire to participate in the main event of UFC London. Edwards last fought in July at UFC 304 in Manchester, England, where he lost his title to Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision.
Before this defeat, “Rocky” had maintained an impressive 13-fight unbeaten streak dating back to May 2016, which included two victories against Kamaru Usman in title fights. He also successfully defended his title against Colby Covington in December 2023.
Given that Edwards was present to observe some boxing, it is not surprising that he was inquired about the possibility of transitioning to the boxing ring in the future. Edwards mentioned that he has already discussed this potential crossover with Matchroom Boxing chairman Eddie Hearn.
“A hundred percent, I said it to Eddie earlier, ‘Get me a fight,’” Edwards said. “Watching these fights, watching how hard the guys work, I’d love to one day cross over, test out my boxing skills. Hopefully.”
