Josh Hoover successfully completed 20 of 32 passes, accumulating 252 yards and four touchdowns, as TCU triumphed over Louisiana with a score of 34-3 in the 19th annual Isleta New Mexico Bowl held on Saturday at University Stadium. Hoover's touchdown passes were directed to Eric McAlister, JP Richardson, DJ Rogers, and Blake Nowell, contributing to TCU's total offensive yardage of 367, while limiting Louisiana to just 209 yards. The quarterback initiated the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Rogers on TCU's first drive, followed by a 1-yard touchdown pass to McAlister, establishing a 14-0 advantage. Kyle Lemmerman added field goals of 45 and 22 yards, extending TCU's lead to 20-0 in the second quarter, before Hoover connected with Richardson for a 20-yard touchdown pass just before halftime. Louisiana, in its 14th bowl appearance, squandered an early scoring opportunity when Kenneth Almendares' 54-yard field goal attempt struck the right upright.
The Ragin’ Cajuns finally scored in the fourth quarter with a 24-yard field goal by Almendares. Dalen Cambre, making his first career start in his 64th game, recorded a personal best of three receptions, while Zylan Perry led the rushing attack with 49 yards on 11 carries. Defensively, Keyon Martin, Jordan Lawson, and Tyrone Lewis each tallied six tackles, with Lawson achieving his first career interception in the third quarter. Antoine Baylis and Amir McDaniel each contributed a sack for Louisiana, while Terrence Williams, Kyron Mims, and K.C. Ossai each made five tackles.
