Peyton Watson Expected to Miss Remainder of Nuggets–Timberwolves Series With Hamstring Injury.

The Denver Nuggets will likely remain without forward Peyton Watson for the duration of their first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a lingering hamstring injury. Watson has been sidelined since April 1, when he aggravated the issue in a matchup against the Utah Jazz. Although the Nuggets initially held out hope for a potential playoff return, recent reporting indicates his recovery has not progressed enough for a comeback in the current series. According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Watson remains classified as week-to-week, but league expectations have consistently pointed toward a series-long absence. The main uncertainty now is whether Denver can extend its postseason run long enough for him to potentially return in a later round. The 23-year-old forward had a breakout regular season, starting a career-high 40 games and posting averages of 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks per contest, with notable improvements across multiple statistical categories. His absence adds to Denver’s injury concerns in the frontcourt, where Aaron Gordon has also been unavailable for recent games due to a calf issue. Gordon’s ongoing health issues have further limited the Nuggets’ depth during a critical stretch of the playoffs. Minnesota has also dealt with significant injuries of its own, with Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo both exiting Game 4. The matchup between the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the Western Conference has become one of the most injury-impacted series of the postseason. With multiple rotation players unavailable, Denver head coach David Adelman has leaned more heavily on Spencer Jones. The undrafted forward has stepped into an expanded role, highlighted by a career-best 20-point performance in Game 4 that helped keep the Nuggets’ season alive.
