The Ralston Valley Mustangs have kicked off their 2025 season in commanding fashion, starting 2-0 and showing no signs of slowing down. After cruising past the Erie Tigers and the Grandview Wolves, the Mustangs now set their sights on a Week 3 clash against the Mullen Mustangs (1-1). At the center of Ralston Valley’s success is quarterback Zeke Andrews (#8), who has proven to be a dual-threat nightmare for defenses. Andrews has already thrown for 515 yards this season while adding 134 yards on the ground, including a 20-yard burst that showcased his mobility. His ability to extend plays has kept opposing defenses guessing and his offense rolling. Of course, Andrews hasn’t done it alone. His wide receiver corps has been outstanding, headlined by Ethan Shirazi, who is averaging an eye-popping 103.5 receiving yards per game. Levi Rillos has been a steady contributor as well, averaging 58 yards per game, while Nico Benallo and Evan Shirazi round out one of the most dynamic receiving groups in the state. On the defensive side, the Mustangs have been equally impressive. Middle linebacker Degan Gregory has been a force, averaging eight tackles per game, while Benallo has pulled double-duty, adding seven tackles per game to his offensive production. Jake Lester has also been a reliable presence in stopping the run. In their dominant win over Grandview, the defense racked up multiple sacks and came away with a key interception from Brady Warren, proving they can be just as disruptive as the offense is explosive.
Head coach Jared Yannacito, now in his fourth year leading Ralston Valley, has this team playing with discipline, confidence, and energy. With a balanced attack on both sides of the ball, the Mustangs are quickly becoming a team to watch as they push toward their ultimate goal—a deep postseason run. Ralston Valley’s hot start has them on the rise, and as they prepare to face Mullen, the Mustangs are proving they’re not just contenders, but one of the most dangerous teams in Colorado high school football.
