The New England Revolution have secured the future of one of their key defenders, announcing a contract extension for Will Sands that will keep him with the club through the 2030 MLS season. Sands, 25, has become an important piece of New England's back line since arriving during the 2024 summer transfer window. The versatile defender has started all 14 matches for the Revolution this season, contributing one goal and one assist while helping stabilize the club's defense. Sporting Director Curt Onalfo praised Sands' development and impact since joining the organization. "We are thrilled to extend Will Sands and keep him in New England for several more seasons," Onalfo said. "Will has grown tremendously as a player and teammate since joining us two years ago. He is in excellent form right now, and we believe his best years are still ahead." Before joining New England, Sands was part of the Columbus Crew squad that captured the 2023 MLS Cup title. Across his MLS career with Columbus and New England, he has recorded one goal and six assists in 63 appearances, including 41 starts. Revolution head coach Marko Mitrovic also highlighted Sands' value both on and off the field. "Coaching Will is a pleasure, and we are looking forward to helping him progress even more in the years ahead," Mitrovic said. "He is incredibly deserving of this contract extension, and we're excited to keep a talented player and exceptional person like Will in New England for years to come." The club did not disclose financial details of the agreement, but the extension signals New England's commitment to keeping a core contributor in place as the Revolution continue building for the future.
