The Colorado Rockies announced changes to their Major League coaching staff on Monday, promoting two Minor League hitting instructors to interim roles and reassigning a current coach to a new position for the remainder of the 2025 season. The moves reflect an organizational effort to realign leadership amid a transitional phase under interim manager Warren Schaeffer. Jordan Pacheco, formerly the hitting coach for Triple-A Albuquerque, and Nic Wilson, the Rockies’ Minor League hitting coordinator, have both been named interim hitting coaches at the Major League level. This marks Pacheco’s first assignment on a Major League coaching staff. He spent over three seasons developing hitters in Albuquerque after retiring from professional play following the 2021 season. A former utility player, Pacheco enjoyed a 14-year professional career, including stints with Colorado, Arizona, and Cincinnati. Notably, he led the Rockies in batting average in 2012, hitting .309 across 132 games. Wilson brings with him six years of coaching experience within the Rockies organization. Hired in 2020 as a hitting coach for Short-Season Boise, he later served at Single-A Fresno before taking on the role of hitting coordinator in 2023. Wilson previously played two seasons of affiliated baseball in the Tampa Bay Rays system after being drafted in 2014 out of Georgia State University.

In a corresponding move, current assistant hitting coach Andy González will shift to third base coach for the remainder of the 2025 season. González, a member of the Rockies’ Major League staff since 2022, replaces Warren Schaeffer, who had held the third base coach role prior to becoming the team’s interim manager. González brings extensive coaching and playing experience, having worked in various developmental roles within the Rockies system since 2015. His professional playing career spanned 14 seasons, including Major League appearances with the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Florida Marlins between 2007 and 2009. The Rockies’ internal promotions and reassignments underscore the organization’s commitment to continuity and the development of talent from within, both on the field and in the coaching ranks.
