The Colorado Rockies have begun the season with the worst record in the history of the National League since 1901, following a 6-3 defeat against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night, as reported by Manny Randhawa from MLB. With a record of 4-24, the Rockies have become the first team since the 2003 Detroit Tigers to drop at least 24 out of their first 28 games, marking one of the poorest starts in recent history. Only two NL teams have lost as many as 23 games in their first 28 games: the Cincinnati Reds of 2022 and the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1952. That team known as the Reds would eventually secure 62 victories. The Pirates, on the other hand, managed to secure just 42 victories. It is important to highlight that the Rockies are on track for a total of 23 wins in 162 games, which is poorer than the performance of the 2024 Chicago White Sox, who set a new MLB record for failure with a 41-121 record. One reason is that it is undoubtedly the poorest in MLB at this moment, and currently, MLB features a Chicago White Sox squad that is set to equal a record for 121 losses.
