The Colorado Rockies, holders of the worst record in Major League Baseball, started the second half of their 2025 season on a high note with a 6-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night at Coors Field. Ryan McMahon and Jordan Beck powered Colorado with early home runs, helping secure only the team's 11th home win of the season. The Rockies wasted no time generating offense, collecting four consecutive extra-base hits in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Freeman and Mickey Moniak began the inning with back-to-back doubles, followed by a triple from Beck and a two-run home run from McMahon—his 14th of the season ("Rockies Never Look Back"). Beck added to his breakout performance with a solo home run in the second inning, his 11th of the season, and finished just a double short of the cycle. Colorado starter Kyle Freeland (2-10) earned his first win in over a month. He pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits while walking three and striking out three. Reliever Seth Halvorsen closed the game for his ninth save. Despite the win, the Rockies still sit at the bottom of the MLB standings and must win 19 of their remaining 65 games to avoid matching the 2024 Chicago White Sox's modern-era record of 121 losses.

Minnesota’s offense responded late, with Byron Buxton hitting his 22nd home run in the fifth inning and Willi Castro narrowing the gap to 6-4 with a three-run blast in the seventh. Catcher Ryan Jeffers added a career-high four hits for the Twins. Starting pitcher Chris Paddack (3-9) lasted five innings, surrendering five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five. The Rockies also welcomed shortstop Ezequíel Tovar back from the injured list, while infielder Thairo Estrada was placed on the 10-day IL with a sprained left thumb. The series continues Saturday, with Colorado’s Antonio Senzatela (3-13, 6.60 ERA) slated to start. The Twins have yet to announce a starting pitcher.
