San José State Falls to Fresno State, 79-50, in Mountain West Contest.

SAN JOSE, Calif.—The San José State women’s basketball team struggled offensively in a 79-50 loss to Fresno State on Wednesday night at the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Maya Anderson and Amira Brown were the only Spartans to reach double figures in scoring.
Anderson led the team with 14 points, marking her 11th game of the season as the team’s top scorer. She also recorded nine rebounds, leading SJSU on the boards for the 11th time this season. Brown added 10 points and seven rebounds. The Spartans’ offense faltered in the second quarter, scoring only four points—a situation that has occurred three times this season. San José State went without a field goal for 12 minutes and 18 seconds spanning the second and third quarters. Defensively, SJSU recorded seven blocked shots, marking their second game this season with that many blocks and their third straight contest with six or more. Gabriela Pato contributed two blocks, while five teammates each added one.
Katarina Anderson played a season-high 32:51 and led the team with four assists, along with five points, four rebounds, one steal, and a block. Carla Fuster contributed seven points, shooting 2-for-3 from three-point range.
The Spartans will face conference leader San Diego State at home on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
