Kyle Schwarber gave Phillies fans a night to remember on Monday with a historic home run and a powerful win to go with it. The slugger smashed his 300th career homer—a towering 466-foot blast into the right-field upper deck—as the Philadelphia Phillies rallied to defeat the Colorado Rockies, 9–3. With the win, Philadelphia extended its winning streak to four games and moved into first place in the National League East for the first time since April 12. Schwarber’s milestone came in the ninth inning, and he didn’t stop there. He added another home run off Rockies reliever Scott Alexander, putting an exclamation point on an already electric night. His teammates backed him up with timely hitting and a strong bullpen effort to complete the comeback. Alec Bohm played the hero earlier in the game with a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning that flipped a 3–2 deficit into a 4–3 lead. Shortly after, Trea Turner delivered a two-run double to give the Phillies some breathing room. In total, the team scored eight unanswered runs from the seventh inning on. Edmundo Sosa also had a breakout night, going 4-for-5 with a home run—his first of the season. Bryce Harper added two runs batted in, including a key sacrifice fly in the seventh that sparked the rally.
Starting pitcher Cristopher Sánchez gave the Phillies six strong innings, allowing just three runs, while Joe Ross earned the win in relief. On the other side, Rockies starter Kyle Freeland pitched well (5.1 innings, one earned run), but he was denied his first win of the season. Colorado’s bullpen, unfortunately, couldn’t hold the lead. Ezequiel Tovar was a bright spot for the Rockies, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. However, the loss dropped Colorado to 8–39—the worst 47-game start in modern Major League Baseball history, dating back to 1901. The Phillies' win not only continued their hot streak but also pushed them back to the top of the division.
With consistent hitting, power performances, and steady pitching, the team looks poised for a strong summer run. Schwarber’s 300th homer was a fitting symbol of a team firing on all cylinders. As the Phillies look ahead to their next matchup, fans can enjoy a memorable milestone and the comfort of first place—at least for now.
