Seahawks Clinch NFC No.1 Seed With Dominant 13 to 3 Win Over 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks delivered a statement performance Saturday night, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 13 to 3 to secure the number one seed in the NFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs in a decisive regular season finale.

Seattle controlled the game from the opening drive, setting the tone with a 12 play opening possession that consumed more than seven minutes and immediately flipped field position in its favor. While the Seahawks did not score on their first series, the sustained drive established early dominance at the line of scrimmage and kept San Francisco on its heels.

The breakthrough came late in the first quarter when Zach Charbonnet ripped off a 27 yard touchdown run, capping a short field created by a strong punt return and penalty aided field position. That score proved to be all Seattle needed as its defense suffocated San Francisco for the remainder of the night.

Seattle extended the lead in the second quarter with a Jason Myers 45 yard field goal, pushing the advantage to 10 to 0. The Seahawks continued to win time of possession and limited San Francisco to underneath throws, forcing long drives that repeatedly stalled before reaching the red zone.

San Francisco managed its only points late in the second quarter on a 48 yard field goal by Eddy Pineiro, trimming the margin to 10 to 3 at halftime. Despite moving the ball more effectively before the break, the 49ers were unable to convert scoring opportunities, a theme that persisted throughout the second half.

The third quarter unfolded as a defensive battle marked by punts and stalled drives. Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold played a controlled game, avoiding turnovers and leaning on a balanced rushing attack led by Kenneth Walker and Charbonnet to maintain field position.

Seattle added another Myers field goal early in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 13 to 3. From there, the Seahawks defense took over, delivering the defining sequence of the game when Dre Thomas intercepted Brock Purdy at the Seattle 3 yard line with San Francisco threatening to score midway through the final quarter.

That interception effectively ended any comeback hopes and highlighted a dominant defensive effort that held the 49ers without a touchdown and forced multiple fourth down failures. Seattle finished the night allowing just 3 points while consistently collapsing the pocket and closing passing lanes.

Walker and Charbonnet combined to control the tempo in the closing minutes as Seattle drained the clock with extended drives that showcased physicality and discipline. The Seahawks ran out the final seconds with kneel downs deep in San Francisco territory, punctuating a wire to wire victory.

The win clinches the NFC number one seed for Seattle, securing a first round bye and ensuring that all potential playoff games will be played at home. It also marks a season defining moment for a Seahawks team that emphasized defense efficiency and ball control in critical matchups.

San Francisco closes the regular season with questions surrounding offensive consistency after being held to its lowest point total of the year. The Seahawks, meanwhile, enter the postseason as one of the conference most complete teams, with momentum firmly on their side and championship expectations now clearly in focus.
