In a thrilling showdown Wednesday night at Lincoln Stadium, the Tigers edged past the Eagles 5-4, thanks to a clutch home run from veteran slugger Mark Smith in the bottom of the ninth inning. Trailing 4-3 entering the final frame, the Tigers mounted a dramatic comeback. After two quick outs, Smith stepped up to the plate with runners on first and second. With a powerful swing, he launched a 375-foot homer over the left field wall, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Earlier in the game, Eagles starter Daniel Cruz had pitched brilliantly, allowing just two runs over seven innings. The Tigers' starting pitcher, Alex Ramirez, also delivered a solid performance, keeping the Eagles at bay through six innings before tiring in the seventh.

The win improves the Tigers’ record to 37-29 and keeps them in contention for the division title. The Eagles fall to 34-32 but remain within striking distance of a playoff berth.

The two teams meet again Friday for the start of a three-game weekend series.
