Ranger Suárez delivered another dominant performance Thursday afternoon as the Philadelphia Phillies shut out the Colorado Rockies 2-0, completing a four-game sweep at Coors Field and continuing one of the hottest stretches in baseball.

Suárez (3-0) pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball, striking out six and walking three. He allowed just four hits, with the only real threat coming in the seventh when he surrendered a two-out double to Jordan Beck followed by a walk to Ezequiel Tovar. Manager Rob Thomson then called upon Orion Kerkering, who extinguished the rally with one pitch by getting Hunter Goodman to ground out. The victory extended Philadelphia’s winning streak to seven games and gave them their 11th win in the last 12 road contests. The Phillies, now 7-0 against the Rockies this season, swept a season series of at least seven games for the first time in franchise history.

“It’s great baseball we’re playing right now,” said Suárez after the game. “The energy is there, the defense is strong, and the lineup is doing just enough to win.”

The Phillies scratched out their two runs against Rockies right-hander Germán Márquez (1-7), who despite the loss turned in one of his better starts of the season. Márquez allowed just one earned run on four hits across seven innings, striking out five. Bryce Harper got the Phillies on the board in the fourth inning with a double to right that scored Bryson Stott, who had reached on an error to lead off the frame. In the seventh, Kyle Schwarber drew a walk and scored on a one-out double by Max Kepler to provide insurance. The Rockies’ best scoring opportunity came in the second inning, when Brenton Doyle tripled with one out. But Tyler Freeman grounded out weakly to shortstop, and Kyle Farmer followed with a fly out to right to end the threat. Colorado’s loss dropped their record to a staggering 8-42, marking the worst 50-game start in Major League Baseball's modern era (since 1901). The Rockies are now 5-20 at Coors Field and have already been shut out seven times in 2025.

“This is not the start anyone wanted,” Rockies manager Bud Black said postgame. “But the only way out is to keep grinding. We have to find a way to compete.” Philadelphia’s bullpen closed the door with 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief, capped by Jordan Romano’s perfect ninth inning to secure his sixth save of the season.
