Lindsey Harding, the G League coach for the Sacramento Kings, has reportedly reached an agreement to serve as an assistant for the Los Angeles Lakers, according to sources from ESPN. This move will reunite Harding with coach JJ Redick as part of his coaching staff. Harding and Redick have a longstanding connection, dating back to her time as a player development coach with the Philadelphia 76ers and her college basketball career as an All-American at Duke. In her new role, Harding will be joining Nate McMillan, Scott Brooks, and Greg St. Jean on the Lakers' bench for the upcoming season.
At 39 years old, Harding has steadily transitioned to the NBA coaching bench following her nine-year career in the WNBA. As the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 WNBA Draft, she achieved the Western Conference finals during her one season in Stockton, after serving as a player development coach with the Sixers and Kings. Sources revealed that Harding was a candidate for the head coaching position with the Charlotte Hornets, which was ultimately filled by Charles Lee.
