The Colorado men’s basketball team is approximately six weeks from commencing preseason practices for the 2024-25 season. However, Coach Tad Boyle’s program has already received an initial look at the new additions that will be joining the team in the near future.
On Thursday evening, Boyle and the Buffs secured their inaugural commitment for the 2025 recruiting class, obtaining a pledge from 6-foot-1 point guard Isaiah Johnson, hailing from Los Angeles. According to 247Sports, Johnson is recognized as a three-star prospect, ranked as the 28th recruit in California and the 51st point guard nationwide.
Senior Julian Hammond III is poised to assume the role of starting point guard for the Buffs in the forthcoming season. Despite having available positions this past spring, Coach Boyle chose not to recruit additional point guards. Instead, he secured three graduate transfers for the front court: Trevor Baskin from Western Colorado, Andrej Jakimovski from Washington State, and Elijah Malone from Grace College. Freshman Felix Kossaras is also a potential candidate to serve as Hammond's backup at the point guard position this season.
