Vikings to Add Adrian Peterson to Ring of Honor This Fall.

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings will officially induct former star running back Adrian Peterson into their Ring of Honor this fall, the team announced Monday. The ceremony will take place just one year before Peterson becomes eligible for Pro Football Hall of Fame consideration. The announcement was revealed last week at the Vikings’ facility during rookie minicamp, where Peterson was invited to speak with players. The surprise moment came during an interview with Vikings Entertainment Network, when former Minnesota defensive lineman and Hall of Famer John Randle presented the news to Peterson on camera. “This is a special moment and something I’ve dreamed about for a while,” Peterson said. “I feel blessed. My name goes up there with the greatest in this organization, so it’s a blessing.” Peterson spent the bulk of his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings from 2007 to 2016, establishing himself as one of the most dominant running backs in league history. He remains the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing yards with 11,747 and rushing touchdowns with 97. Across his entire NFL career, Peterson finished with 14,918 rushing yards and 120 touchdowns, ranking fifth all-time in both categories. “From the moment we selected Adrian in the 2007 NFL Draft, he proved to be a transformational player for the Minnesota Vikings,” said team owner/president Mark Wilf. “His historic 2012 MVP season will be rightfully remembered by fans, but his sustained excellence over a decade in Minnesota is what made him an all-time Viking.” Peterson’s NFL career included later stints with the Saints, Cardinals, Washington, Lions, Titans, and Seahawks. He will become eligible for Pro Football Hall of Fame induction for the first time in 2027.
