CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that quarterback Joe Burrow and the team’s starters will take the field in Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Cleveland Browns, despite the team being eliminated from playoff contention.

Taylor made his stance clear following the Bengals’ 37–14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, a win that improved Cincinnati’s record to 6–10. When asked whether Burrow would play, Taylor responded without hesitation, stating that Burrow “gives us the best chance to win the game.” The Bengals have found late-season momentum, winning back-to-back games and posting a 5–2 record in contests started by Burrow this year. Cincinnati believes finishing the season on a strong note is important, particularly with a chance to sweep Cleveland and improve their divisional record to 4–2. Even with a potential seventh win, the Bengals are guaranteed their first losing season since 2020, Burrow’s rookie year.

Burrow echoed his coach’s mindset, emphasizing pride and professionalism as key motivations for playing the finale.

“Every time we go out there, we’re putting our bodies on the line,” Burrow said. “The playoffs are out of the question, but you’re always playing for your teammates, for pride, and to put good tape out there.” The Bengals’ offense has been especially sharp over the past two games. Burrow has completed 49 of 63 passes for 614 yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions in wins over the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals. During that stretch, Cincinnati has outscored its opponents 82–35.

Reflecting on the season, Burrow highlighted the emotional side of the game and the importance of continuing to compete.

“This is why you do it—the highs and the lows,” Burrow said. “We are where we are, so now it’s about moving forward, getting better, and performing again next week.”
