The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Seattle Kraken 2–0 on Thursday night in Denver, securing a franchise-record 121 points in a single NHL season. The win also earned Colorado the Presidents’ Trophy, surpassing the previous club record of 119 points set by the 2021–22 team. Nick Blankenburg opened the scoring in the second period after having an earlier goal overturned due to an offside challenge. Parker Kelly added a goal in the third period to extend the lead, while Scott Wedgewood stopped 22 shots to record his fourth shutout of the season and his 31st win. Colorado rested several key players, including Nathan MacKinnon, Martin Necas, and Gabriel Landeskog, ahead of the playoffs. Despite the absences, the Avalanche controlled the game and extended their dominance over Seattle, which has now lost seven straight meetings against Colorado. Seattle goaltender Victor Ostman made his first NHL start and recorded 33 saves in a losing effort. The Kraken finished the season 34–37–11 and missed the playoffs. MacKinnon ended the regular season with a career-high 53 goals, leading the league and capturing the Rocket Richard Trophy. Colorado will open the playoffs at home against the Los Angeles Kings, marking the first postseason meeting between the teams since 2002.
