Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo delivered the most remarkable performance of his career Tuesday night, scoring 83 points in a 150–129 victory over the Washington Wizards. Watching from the arena was his girlfriend, A'ja Wilson, the four-time WNBA MVP and star of the Las Vegas Aces, who admitted she was too nervous to sit down during much of the game because she feared disrupting Adebayo’s momentum. Wilson arrived at the Kaseya Center in Miami and quickly realized Adebayo was off to an extraordinary start. She said she initially avoided sitting down, worried that changing her position might affect his performance. Eventually, she settled near the baseline and witnessed a historic night.

Adebayo’s 83 points rank as the second-highest single-game total in NBA history, behind the 100-point record set by Wilt Chamberlain. The performance also gives Adebayo the highest scoring game among active NBA players. Meanwhile, Wilson holds the highest scoring mark among active WNBA players with a career-high 53 points, tying the all-time WNBA record.

After the game, Adebayo expressed gratitude for Wilson’s influence in his life and career, saying that her dedication and work ethic inspire him daily. The couple has often supported each other’s athletic journeys, forming one of basketball’s most recognizable power couples.

The historic game also helped Adebayo resolve a minor disagreement with Wilson.

Earlier in the week, he surpassed 10,000 career points during a game in which Wilson was not present. She had hoped to witness that milestone in person. However, Adebayo joked that his 83-point performance in front of her made up for the earlier moment. Wilson later confirmed that he was “forgiven.” Adebayo’s remarkable night included setting NBA records for free throws made (36) and attempted (43). With Wilson watching courtside, the game became not only a personal milestone for Adebayo but also a celebration of the support and motivation the two athletes provide each other.
