Brynn McGaughy Leads No. 25 Washington Past Rutgers for Fourth Straight Win.

Freshman Brynn McGaughy scored a game-high 17 points on an efficient 8-for-9 shooting performance as No. 25 Washington defeated Rutgers 76–48 on Monday in Piscataway, New Jersey. The victory marked the Huskies’ fourth consecutive win. Avery Howell contributed 16 points for Washington, while Sayvia Sellers added 11 points and six assists in 28 minutes of play. Sellers, who leads the team with an average of 18.7 points per game, helped Washington improve to 16–4 overall and 6–3 in Big Ten play. Yulia Grabovskaia posted a strong all-around effort with nine points and a game-best 17 rebounds. Washington controlled the game in the paint and on the boards, outrebounding Rutgers 51–30 and holding a 36–14 scoring advantage inside. The Huskies broke the game open in the second quarter with an 8–0 run and closed the first half by scoring the final six points, highlighted by three-point shots from Sellers and Howell. Washington entered halftime with a commanding 43–20 lead. The Huskies continued to pull away in the third quarter with an 11–0 run, including five points from Grabovskaia, extending the lead to 56–27. Washington shot efficiently throughout the game, while Rutgers struggled offensively.
Kaylah Ivey and Imani Lester led Rutgers with 14 points apiece, and Lauryn Swann added 11 points. The Scarlet Knights fell to 9–11 overall and 1–8 in conference play, following a recent loss to No. 7 Michigan. The matchup marked Washington’s first-ever visit to Piscataway. The game had originally been scheduled for Sunday but was postponed due to a winter storm. Washington remains on the road to face No. 16 Maryland on Wednesday, while Rutgers continues its three-game homestand against Oregon.
