Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo made it clear that major changes could be coming if the team’s poor performance continues. Following a 112–103 win over the Chicago Bulls on December 28, Antetokounmpo addressed the pressure facing the organization as the NBA trade deadline approaches in early February. Despite the victory, the Bucks remain near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with a 13–19 record, placing them 11th overall. Antetokounmpo, who recently returned after missing eight games due to a calf injury, emphasized that continued losses could result in significant roster turnover. He suggested that as many as half of the team could be traded if Milwaukee fails to turn its season around. In his return, the two-time MVP delivered an efficient performance, recording 29 points, eight rebounds, and contributions on both ends of the floor in just 25 minutes. His highlight-reel windmill dunk late in the game sparked tension with Bulls players, leading to a brief postgame confrontation. Antetokounmpo defended his aggressive play, explaining that the Bucks are no longer in a position to prioritize sportsmanship over competitiveness. The forward stressed that the team is still searching for its identity and must adopt a tougher mindset to stay afloat. With three consecutive first-round playoff exits in recent years, concerns have grown about whether Milwaukee’s championship window is closing. Those concerns intensified earlier in December when reports surfaced that Antetokounmpo and his agent were evaluating whether remaining with the Bucks is the best long-term option.
While a trade involving Antetokounmpo before the deadline remains uncertain, reports indicate the Bucks’ front office is actively exploring ways to improve the roster. If Milwaukee can string together wins in the coming weeks, only minor adjustments may be needed. However, if inconsistency persists, general manager Jon Horst may be forced to make sweeping changes in an effort to salvage the season.
