Gilgeous-Alexander Powers Thunder Past Hawks

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a dominant performance Monday night, scoring 39 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 140–129 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. A strong third-quarter surge helped Oklahoma City pull away and extend Atlanta’s losing streak to seven games. Chet Holmgren contributed 24 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks, while Jalen Williams added 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. The Thunder, now 28–5, continue to lead the NBA standings. Gilgeous-Alexander shot efficiently, making 15 of 24 attempts from the field and converting all seven of his free throws. The outing also marked his 104th straight game with at least 20 points. Atlanta, playing without key starters Trae Young, Jalen Johnson, and Kristaps Porzingis, leaned heavily on Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Onyeka Okongwu. Alexander-Walker scored 30 points, and Okongwu posted 26 points and 14 rebounds, but the Hawks fell to 15–19 on the season. Both teams relied heavily on three-point shooting, combining for 86 attempts. Atlanta connected on 25 of 54 shots from beyond the arc, while Oklahoma City made 12 of 32. The Thunder made up the difference inside, outscoring the Hawks 70–36 in points in the paint.

The game featured multiple buzzer-beaters and lead changes early. Atlanta held a 74–70 advantage at halftime, but Oklahoma City seized control in the third quarter by outscoring the Hawks 30–11. Despite a late push by Atlanta, the Thunder maintained their lead and closed out the win at home.

The Hawks will look to end their skid when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, while the Thunder will face the Portland Trail Blazers the same night.
