Jack Eichel Overtime Goal Lifts Vegas Golden Knights Over Toronto Maple Leafs

Las Vegas — Jack Eichel scored the game-winning goal at 2:44 of overtime as the Vegas Golden Knights rallied past the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-5 on Thursday night, marking Vegas’ sixth consecutive win.

Eichel finished with four points, including the overtime winner set up by Tomas Hertl, who had tied the game with a 6-on-5 goal with just seven seconds left in regulation. Mitch Marner, playing against his former team, recorded two assists, while goaltender Adin Hill returned from a lower-body injury to make 23 saves.

Pavel Dorofeyev contributed two power-play goals for the Golden Knights and nearly completed a hat trick late in the third period, but the Maple Leafs successfully challenged the goal for offside. Mark Stone extended his points streak to 10 games with a goal and two assists, Hertl added a goal and assist, and Keegan Kolesar also scored for Vegas.

Toronto jumped to a 3-1 lead in the opening 10 minutes with goals from William Nylander, John Tavares, and others, but Hill made key saves to keep the Golden Knights in the game. Nylander exited early with a lower-body injury, and Joseph Woll stopped 28 shots for Toronto. Auston Matthews, Morgan Rielly, and Scott Laughton also scored for the Maple Leafs, while Matias Maccelli and Matthew Knies each recorded two assists.

Marner, acquired by Vegas in the summer in a sign-and-trade, faced a hometown crowd that booed him throughout the game. The Golden Knights and Maple Leafs will meet again in Toronto on January 23.

The win strengthens Vegas’ position in the Pacific Division, demonstrating resilience against one of the NHL’s top offensive teams and showing that Hill’s return stabilizes the goaltending rotation.

Next, the Maple Leafs travel to Winnipeg on Saturday, while the Golden Knights host the Nashville Predators.
