Jrue Holiday Scores 35 as Portland Trail Blazers Defeat Memphis Grizzlies 122 to 114 in Key Western Conference Game

The Portland Trail Blazers strengthened their postseason outlook Wednesday night as Jrue Holiday recorded 35 points and 11 assists to lead a 122 to 114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The win serves as an important update in the Western Conference playoff race in the National Basketball Association, where Portland improved to 30 to 33 and halted a recent slide that included losses in three of its previous four games. Memphis, meanwhile, continued a difficult stretch, dropping its ninth game in the last twelve contests.

Holiday controlled the pace of the game with efficient scoring and playmaking. The veteran guard finished with 35 points and 11 assists while directing an offense that generated consistent production in the closing minutes. Forward Jerami Grant added 30 points, giving Portland two players with at least 30 points in the same game, a combination that has become increasingly important for the Trail Blazers as they pursue a postseason position.

Portland secured the outcome during the final stretch. With the game still competitive entering the last nine minutes, the Trail Blazers produced a 24 to 19 scoring advantage that created separation late in the fourth quarter.

Center Robert Williams III delivered a strong interior performance with 20 points and 11 rebounds, adding physical presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. Wing defender Matisse Thybulle contributed a rebound, an assist, and a steal while appearing in the game on his twenty nine birthday.

Memphis produced balanced scoring but struggled to overcome Portland’s offensive efficiency. Rookie guard Jaylen Wells led the Grizzlies with 24 points, while GG Jackson added 20 points in one of the team’s stronger individual performances of the night.

Forward Olivier Maxence Prosper, who earlier Wednesday signed a multi year contract with Memphis, recorded 17 points and nine rebounds in his eighth start for the team. The Grizzlies also received scoring contributions from several rotation players. Jahmai Mashack scored 13 points off the bench, Cam Spencer finished with 12 points along with seven rebounds and seven assists, Walter Clayton Jr added 12 points, and Javon Small scored 11.

Memphis continues to navigate significant roster challenges. All Star guard Ja Morant missed his eighteenth consecutive game due to a left elbow injury, a situation that has impacted the team’s offensive creation throughout the second half of the season. The Grizzlies are also without rookie center Zach Edey for the remainder of the season following surgery earlier this week on his left ankle.

The latest timeline of injuries has forced Memphis to rely heavily on younger players and recent additions to maintain rotation depth. Despite multiple players reaching double figures in scoring Wednesday, the Grizzlies were unable to match Portland’s late game efficiency.

For Portland, the victory carries meaningful implications as the regular season approaches its final stretch. The Trail Blazers remain within reach of the Western Conference play in positions, and performances from veteran leaders such as Holiday and Grant could influence the team’s postseason outlook.

The next steps for both teams arrive quickly. Portland travels to face the Houston Rockets on Friday in another Western Conference matchup with playoff implications. Memphis returns home Saturday to host the Los Angeles Clippers.
