SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III described winning the Super Bowl MVP award as an unbelievable moment, one he never imagined as a child growing up in Tennessee. After a dominant performance in Super Bowl LX, Walker said the achievement felt almost unreal. Walker carried the ball 27 times for 135 yards, leading Seattle’s offense as the Seahawks controlled nearly every aspect of the game against the New England Patriots. His effort earned him Super Bowl MVP honors, making him the first running back to receive the award since Terrell Davis accomplished the feat in 1998. Following the game, Walker reflected on how unlikely the moment once seemed. As a high school athlete, he was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs, a condition that initially appeared to end his football career. After seeking further medical opinions and beginning treatment with blood thinners, Walker was able to return to the sport. He credited his parents, particularly his father, for supporting him throughout his recovery. Walker said the experience changed his perspective, making him grateful for every opportunity to play the game. He emphasized how meaningful it is to still be alive and competing at the highest level of professional football.

With fellow running back Zach Charbonnet sidelined by a torn ACL during the playoffs, Walker knew his responsibilities would increase. He said the injury was difficult to see but added that Charbonnet remained supportive throughout the Super Bowl run. Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald praised Walker’s performance, calling it one of the best games of his career. Macdonald highlighted the team’s commitment to the running game, noting it was essential in controlling the pace and outcome of the contest. As Walker enters free agency following the final year of his contract, the Super Bowl MVP award adds a significant achievement to his résumé. He also expressed hope that his performance could help restore appreciation for running backs across the league, a position he believes once held greater prominence.
