Lafrenière’s Hat Trick Powers Rangers Past Flames, 4-0.

NEW YORK — Alexis Lafrenière scored his second career hat trick as the New York Rangers shut out the Calgary Flames, 4-0, on Tuesday night. Goaltender Jonathan Quick stopped 21 shots to earn his second shutout of the season and the 65th of his NHL career, moving past Henrik Lundqvist for the 17th-most career shutouts and sitting just one behind Patrick Roy.

Conor Sheary added his second goal of the season for New York, while Mika Zibanejad and Gabe Perreault each recorded two assists. Zibanejad’s helper on Lafrenière’s first goal marked his 800th career point, and Adam Fox’s assist on the same goal gave him 400 career points, making him the fourth defenseman in Rangers history to reach the milestone. Lafrenière has totaled eight goals and five assists over his last nine games, showcasing a hot streak that helped the Rangers secure consecutive wins for the first time since December. The Flames, meanwhile, have dropped six of their last seven contests, with goaltender Dustin Wolf making 25 saves in defeat. New York right wing Taylor Raddysh missed his second straight game due to the death of his father.

Up Next: The Flames face the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, while the Rangers travel to Winnipeg for a matchup against the Jets.
