Nuggets Hold Off Raptors 106 to 103 as Denver Survives Late Toronto Push

The Denver Nuggets withstood a late fourth quarter surge to secure a 106 to 103 road victory over the Toronto Raptors on December 31, 2025, closing out a tightly contested game defined by shot making, late execution, and momentum swings at Scotiabank Arena.

Denver controlled the opening quarter, building a 32 to 23 advantage behind early interior scoring and perimeter efficiency. Jonas Valanciunas established a physical presence inside, while Jamal Murray managed tempo and spacing as the Nuggets dictated much of the first half.

Toronto gradually responded by increasing defensive intensity and attacking in transition. Scottie Barnes played a central role in the Raptors response, impacting the game as a scorer, facilitator, and rebounder. Brandon Ingram provided consistent perimeter scoring, helping Toronto close the gap and keep the contest within reach entering the final period.

The game tightened significantly in the third quarter as the Raptors erased a double digit deficit through balanced scoring and improved ball movement. RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley helped generate offense off penetration, while Barnes continued to create second chance opportunities and initiate offense in the half court.

In the fourth quarter, Toronto briefly seized momentum, tying the game and applying pressure late. Ingram connected on a key three point shot to pull the Raptors within one possession, and Barnes delivered multiple defensive stops that kept Toronto alive in the closing minutes.

Denver responded with poise. Jamal Murray converted critical free throws and finished through contact in the final stretch, while timely defensive rebounds prevented Toronto from generating extended possessions. Despite multiple late attempts, the Raptors were unable to convert the tying basket in the final seconds.

The loss drops Toronto after a strong home effort that showed improved late game competitiveness. Barnes continued to demonstrate his importance as a multi dimensional leader, while Ingram’s scoring presence remained a stabilizing force during critical stretches. Toronto’s ability to battle back against a Western Conference contender reflects positive trajectory despite the result.

For Denver, the win reinforces their ability to close tight games on the road. Valanciunas provided interior stability, Murray led late execution, and Denver’s defensive discipline down the stretch proved decisive.

As the season continues, Toronto’s next steps center on improving late game shot selection and execution, while Denver exits the matchup with another close win that strengthens their positioning and confidence in high leverage situations.
