Robinson sparks fourth quarter surge as Pistons stun Suns 108 to 105

Detroit — Duncan Robinson scored 19 points and Jalen Duren delivered a dominant interior performance as the Detroit Pistons erased a 16 point deficit to defeat the Phoenix Suns 108 to 105 on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena.

Detroit trailed after each of the first three quarters but surged ahead midway through the fourth when Tobias Harris knocked down a go ahead jumper over Dillon Brooks. The Pistons closed out their fourth win in five games by forcing late stops and surviving a final possession after Robinson split a pair of free throws with seconds remaining.

Duren finished with 16 points and a game high 18 rebounds, controlling the paint during Detroit’s comeback and anchoring the defense late. Harris added timely scoring down the stretch as the Pistons continued to find ways to win despite uneven shooting nights from their primary creators.

Cade Cunningham struggled from the field but still impacted the game as a facilitator, finishing with 10 points and 11 assists. He missed 13 of 16 shots, went 0 for 7 from three point range, and shot 4 of 9 at the free throw line, yet Detroit remained composed offensively in the closing minutes.

Phoenix was led by Grayson Allen, who scored 33 points with 21 coming in the first half. Allen carried the scoring load with Devin Booker sidelined by an ankle injury. He opened the game aggressively, scoring 10 points in the first quarter and setting a franchise mark by making 3 three pointers and blocking 3 shots in the same period. Allen added 11 more points in the second quarter as the Suns built a double digit lead before settling for a 63 to 56 advantage at halftime.

The Pistons steadily chipped away in the second half, cutting the deficit to one point entering the fourth quarter. Detroit’s defensive pressure increased, limiting clean looks and forcing Phoenix into tougher possessions as the game tightened.

Collin Gillespie scored 18 points for the Suns, Brooks added 16 before fouling out with 2 minutes and 13 seconds remaining, Royce O’Neale had 11, and Oso Ighodaro contributed 10. Phoenix has now dropped two straight as it continues to navigate injuries and lineup adjustments.

From a broader outlook, Detroit’s recent stretch reflects improved late game execution and interior dominance, particularly with Duren’s rebounding presence and Harris providing veteran stability. The Pistons have remained competitive even when perimeter efficiency dips, a key development as the season progresses.

Phoenix continues its road trip Saturday night at New York as it awaits further updates on Booker’s status.

Detroit returns home Saturday to host Indiana, looking to extend its momentum against an Eastern Conference opponent.
