Kawhi Leonard led the Los Angeles Clippers to a commanding 132-100 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night, marking their second consecutive win and their 10th triumph in 12 games as they strive to maintain their sixth position in the Western Conference.
Leonard had an impressive performance, hitting 5 of 6 from beyond the arc and shooting 10 of 14 overall, while also sinking all six of his free throws. In just under 27 minutes of play, he contributed six rebounds, four steals, and two blocks.
Ivica Zubac added 21 points, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, along with 12 rebounds for the Clippers. James Harden chipped in with 17 points.
For Brooklyn, Keon Johnson scored 13 points. The Nets are currently on a six-game losing streak, with a dismal record of 1-9 in their last 10 games and 2-16 over their last 18.
Clippers: After a home defeat to Oklahoma City, Los Angeles bounced back by defeating both New York teams, having previously beaten the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
Nets: Drew Timme, who signed a multiyear contract on Friday, recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes. The former Gonzaga standout is averaging 23.0 points in 29 games this season for Long Island in the NBA G League.
After trailing 27-26 at the end of the first quarter, the Clippers surged ahead, outscoring the Nets 42-21 in the second quarter and 37-21 in the third, establishing a 105-69 lead.
Zubac moved up to sixth place on the Clippers’ all-time rebounds list, surpassing Swen Nater.
The Clippers will face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, while the Nets are set to play against the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.
