Celebrini Leads Sharks Past Wild in Shootout Following Team Canada Selection.

Macklin Celebrini recorded a goal and an assist just hours after being named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics, helping the San Jose Sharks defeat the Minnesota Wild 4–3 in a shootout on Wednesday. In the shootout, Celebrini and William Eklund scored for the Sharks, while Minnesota was unable to convert on either of its two attempts. The victory marked San Jose’s third consecutive win following a three-game losing streak. Igor Chernyshov contributed a goal and two assists, and Jeff Skinner also scored for San Jose. At 19, Celebrini recorded his 40th assist of the season, surpassing Mikko Rantanen for the second-most assists in the NHL. Goaltender Yaroslav Askarov made 20 saves.
For Minnesota, Vladimir Tarasenko, Marcus Foligno, and Mats Zuccarello scored. Jesper Wallstedt stopped 25 shots as the Wild went 2-0-1 on their seven-game road trip.
Tarasenko opened the scoring at 10:38 of the first period. Chernyshov tied the game 1:14 into the second period, followed by a power-play goal from Skinner at 16:47. Celebrini gave the Sharks a 3–1 lead with his 22nd goal at 4:16 of the third period. Foligno scored his first goal of the season at 6:40, and Zuccarello tied the game at 8:47.
The Sharks will host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, while the Wild visit the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
