Cunningham Marks Return to Fever with Adult Baptism.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham recently celebrated her return to the team by choosing to be baptized again, this time as an adult. Cunningham shared a video of the ceremony, which took place at a church in Peoria, Arizona, on social media. In her caption, she explained that although she had been baptized as a child, she felt compelled to repeat the experience on her own terms. Cunningham has consistently expressed her Christian faith publicly, often posting religious content online. Her rebaptism comes shortly after she signed a new one-year contract with the Indiana Fever, confirming her place on the roster for the 2026 season. In a statement released by the team, Cunningham reflected positively on her previous season in Indiana. She noted the strong connection within the team and expressed enthusiasm about continuing to build on that foundation. She also highlighted her appreciation for the organization and its fan base, stating her excitement for the upcoming season. During the 2025 season, Cunningham delivered one of the most efficient shooting performances of her career, recording a 43.2 percent success rate from three-point range. She appeared in 30 games before suffering a torn MCL, which prematurely ended her season and raised uncertainty about her future in the league.

Prior to joining the Fever, Cunningham spent six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. Throughout her career, she has averaged close to nine points per game. Beyond her statistical contributions, she is widely recognized for her leadership and vocal presence on the court.
