Durant and Thompson Propel Rockets Past Raptors, 113-99

HOUSTON — Kevin Durant scored 29 points and Amen Thompson contributed 23 as the Houston Rockets defeated the Toronto Raptors 113-99 on Tuesday night (AP). Durant was highly efficient, making 12 of 16 shots from the field and securing seven rebounds, with 22 of his points coming in the first half. Thompson reached the 20-point mark for the fifth time in six games, connecting on six of 10 field goals and converting 10 free throws. Jabari Smith Jr. also added 23 points for Houston, which moved into a tie for third place in the Western Conference. Alperen Sengun recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The Rockets started strong, shooting 60% in the first quarter and outrebounding the Raptors 11-5. Despite six turnovers, the first quarter ended tied at 29. Houston closed the half on a 14-4 run to take a 58-49 lead at halftime. For the game, Houston shot 49% from the field and dominated the boards 53-30, scoring 22 second-chance points compared to Toronto’s five.

For Toronto, RJ Barrett led all scorers with 25 points, followed closely by Scottie Barnes with 24. However, the Raptors struggled from long range, making only nine of 36 three-point attempts. Their lead over the Orlando Magic for fifth place in the Eastern Conference is now reduced to half a game.


The Rockets will visit the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, while the Raptors travel to face the New Orleans Pelicans.
