Morgan Geekie’s 100th Career Goal Lifts Boston Bruins Over Montreal Canadiens 4-3

Boston, Massachusetts — Morgan Geekie scored his 100th career goal with 5:53 remaining to break a tie and lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, extending Boston’s home winning streak to seven games at TD Garden.

Geekie’s game-winning goal, his second of the night, came on the power play just 12 seconds after Fraser Minten tied the game at 3-3 with a backhand shot past Montreal goalie Samuel Montembeault. Viktor Arvidsson also scored for Boston, and Charlie McAvoy contributed three assists. Jeremy Swayman stopped 22 shots to secure the win, marking Boston’s 10th victory in the last 12 games.

Montreal’s Cole Caufield recorded his second career hat trick, scoring all three of the Canadiens’ goals and extending his point streak to five games. Caufield now has 29 goals this season and became the first Montreal player to record a hat trick in Boston since 1997. Montembeault made 17 saves in the loss.

The game featured four second-period power-play goals. Geekie’s first goal tied the score at 2-2 after receiving a precise pass from David Pastrnak. Caufield’s second and third goals gave Montreal temporary leads, both scored from below the left circle on one-timer shots. Boston converted three of four power-play opportunities while Montreal was two for three.

The win gives the Bruins momentum as they prepare to face the New York Rangers on Monday, while the Canadiens will look to regroup against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.

This game underscores Boston’s strength on the man advantage and Geekie’s emerging role as a clutch scorer, adding depth to the Bruins’ offensive lineup and boosting confidence heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
