Darren Raddysh scored midway through overtime, leading the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, marking the team’s fifth consecutive win. The Lightning overcame three one-goal deficits in the game. The win came in the 1,000th regular-season game for Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper, who has been with the team since March 2013. Cooper now has 595 victories, making him the longest-tenured coach currently in the NHL. Over his career with the Lightning, Cooper has guided the team through 155 playoff games, winning two Stanley Cups and reaching four finals. Nikita Kucherov contributed a goal and an assist, while Brandon Hagel set up Raddysh’s overtime winner and added three assists of his own. J.J. Moser and Brayden Point also scored for Tampa Bay, and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made 24 saves. For Anaheim, Mason McTavish scored a power-play goal with 6:58 remaining in regulation to tie the game, continuing the Ducks’ four-game losing streak and marking eight losses in their last ten games. Jansen Harkins and Beckett Sennecke also scored, with Lukas Dostal stopping 24 shots. Moser opened the scoring for the Lightning in the first period, his first goal since signing an eight-year, $54 million contract extension. Anaheim scored its first two goals off turnovers, including Sennecke’s 12th goal of his rookie season early in the third period. Kucherov later scored his 18th goal of the season during a power play, but the Ducks responded when Pavel Mintyukov set up McTavish’s 10th goal of the season.
During the game, the Ducks announced that forward Frank Vatrano will be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a broken shoulder suffered in their loss to the Los Angeles Kings last Saturday. The Lightning travel to face the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, while the Ducks host the Minnesota Wild on Friday.
