CALGARY, Alberta — Rookie Beckett Sennecke scored at 2:54 of overtime to complete his first NHL hat trick, leading the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Calgary Flames on Sunday night. Sennecke’s overtime goal came on a 2-on-1 break, where he maintained control of the puck and snapped it past Flames goalie Dustin Wolf just inside the post. Chris Kreider also scored for Anaheim (28-21-3), which extended its winning streak to seven games. Mikael Granlund and Alex Killorn each contributed two assists, while Lukas Dostal made 32 saves, improving his record to 19-12-2. With the hat trick, Sennecke now has 18 goals and 41 points this season, ranking him second among rookies in scoring behind Montreal’s Ivan Demidov, who has 11 goals and 32 assists for 43 points.
The Ducks moved to within one point of the Pacific Division’s second-place Edmonton Oilers, holding one game in hand. Anaheim and Edmonton are scheduled to face off Monday in Edmonton. For Calgary (21-25-6), Jonathan Huberdeau, Matt Coronato, and Hunter Brzustewicz—who scored his first NHL goal—found the net. Wolf, who made 17 saves, fell to 15-21-2. Huberdeau ended a 10-game scoring drought with his ninth goal of the season, while Brzustewicz’s goal came in his 18th NHL game. The Flames had scored just once in each of their previous three games following the trade of defenseman Rasmus Andersson. However, early goals by Huberdeau and Brzustewicz, less than two minutes apart, gave Calgary a 2-0 lead eight minutes into the first period.
The game was tied 2-2 entering the third period before Coronato scored at 4:50, giving the Flames a temporary lead. Kreider tied the game at 13:08, sending it into overtime.
Anaheim’s seven-game winning streak marks the second such streak of the season, the first time the Ducks have had multiple seven-game streaks in a single season since 2014–15.
