Waco, Texas -- Baylor delivered a decisive breaking update in Big 12 play Wednesday night, riding a 27 point performance from Tounde Yessoufou to an 86 to 67 victory over Colorado at Foster Pavilion.
The win moved Baylor to 13 and 9 overall and 3 and 7 in conference play, offering a stabilizing result as the season enters its most critical stretch. Colorado fell to 13 and 10 overall and 3 and 7 in the Big 12, continuing a difficult road swing in one of college basketball’s most competitive leagues.
Yessoufou set the tone early and never relented, shooting 10 of 16 from the field while adding 7 rebounds in one of his most complete performances of the season. Baylor shot 53 percent overall and 42 percent from three point range, building a commanding first half lead that defined the latest timeline of the game.
The Bears opened with a surge that Colorado could not match, racing to a 45 to 21 halftime advantage behind crisp ball movement and efficient perimeter shooting. Cameron Carr and Obi Agbim each scored 19 points, combining for six three pointers. Carr added 8 rebounds and 6 assists, while Agbim finished with 6 assists as Baylor consistently created high quality looks.
Baylor also controlled the game at the free throw line, converting 20 of 25 attempts, and held a 32 to 26 edge on the glass. The margin reflected Baylor’s physicality and improved execution, areas head coach Scott Drew has emphasized throughout conference play.
Colorado showed resilience after the break, outscoring Baylor 46 to 41 in the second half, but never cut the deficit to single digits. Ian Inman led the Buffaloes off the bench with 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting, including two three pointers. Jalin Holland scored 12 points,
Barrington Hargress added 11, and Isaiah Johnson contributed 10 points with 4 assists.
Colorado finished the night shooting 40 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc, numbers that were not enough to overcome the early hole.
Baylor answered each Colorado run with poise, extending the lead to 70 to 41 on a Carr jumper with 8 minutes and 27 seconds remaining and maintaining control through the final stretch. The performance marked one of Baylor’s most balanced offensive outings of the season and its most convincing conference win to date.
What this means for Baylor is renewed momentum as the Bears look to strengthen their postseason profile in a crowded Big 12 race. For Colorado, the outlook centers on defensive consistency and faster starts as the Buffaloes continue to adjust to the demands of conference play.
Next steps come quickly. Baylor travels to face seventh ranked Iowa State on Saturday in a high leverage road test.
Colorado returns home to host Arizona State on Saturday as it looks to regroup and reset its conference trajectory.
